Summer Round-Up

Updated: Jul 26

Greetings, Thrive Clermont community!

We are thrilled to share the exciting highlights and upcoming opportunities that make our organization a beacon of empowerment for local teens. Thrive programs have served 600 plus or minus students through our dynamic programs offered throughout the community and delivered in the classroom through June 2024. We invite you to learn more about our Teen Advisory Council, our first Teen Feedback Session, and our upcoming Fall Adulting Series. Your involvement, whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading the word, is crucial to the continued success of our programs and the empowerment of the teens we serve. Thank you for being an integral part of Thrive Clermont's mission!

Summer PopUps were a tremendous success!

Thanks to Thrive Clermont, 206 teens kick-started their summer with opportunities to try new things and make new friends, marking a 36% increase in registration from last year! Over three evenings in June 2024, the teens participated in twenty-two different activities. This series was made possible through the support of volunteers, donors, sponsors, and local municipalities. The generous contributions of time and expertise from activity leaders was also crucial to the program's success. Summer PopUps provided local teens with the chance to learn new skills under the positive guidance of local business owners and professionals. Each evening concluded with food, music, and raffle drawings. The diverse program reflects the interests of local teens and the talents of the individuals who volunteered their time. Spread the Word!

Teen Advisory Council Applications open through July 30th!

Thrive’s Teen Advisory Council (TAC) is an advanced volunteering and leadership training program. Each semester, up to 16 students work alongside mentors to plan and execute Thrive's programs, gaining real-world experience in event planning, social media, video production, and outreach. Responsibilities and opportunities expand based on students' interests and skills. TAC members interact within a diverse group to achieve common goals, which boosts self-esteem and strengthens confidence. Additionally, they develop new connections with teens from other schools and positive adult mentors. If you know teens aged 13 to 18 who would be interested in earning weekly volunteer hours, expanding and strengthening their leadership skills, and contributing to Thrive’s teen-created and approved programming, please share the link below!

Teen Feedback Sessions

On April 27th, Thrive Clermont successfully hosted its inaugural Teen Feedback Session, inviting teens to actively participate in shaping our future programs. This milestone event provided 20 students with the opportunity to contribute to Thrive's foundational planning, ensuring that our initiatives align with the needs and aspirations of the youth we serve.
The day began with a warm welcome and breakfast, after which students divided into groups to discuss crucial topics such as Financial Literacy, Mental Wellness, Safe Socialization, Careers for the Future, and Identifying Skill or Knowledge Gaps. Interactive wall votes and group discussions facilitated a dynamic exchange of ideas, with insights shared and recorded for future planning. This session marks a significant step in our commitment to empowering youth and ensuring their voices are heard in our community planning processes.

Get Ready for our Fall Adulting Series!

Our fall adulting series is packed with events and activities focused on college preparation and workforce readiness. Highlights include a bus trip to the National College Fair, a bilingual information session on how to pay for college, our "Be Your Own Boss" event, and our popular personal finance workshop.
We rely on supporters like you to help make this series a success.
