During March, Thrive Clermont hosted and attended several community-building events across central Florida!
The month began with our monthly Thrive Teen Advisory Council meeting, where Sheri Lewin led a “Lead-your-ship” workshop! Members of the TAC were able to effectively plan out their long-term goals for the next few years. reviewing and voting on the topics to include in the mental health resource guide project.
On March 22nd, Thrive hosted the Behind-The-Scenes Healthcare Tour in partnership with Orlando Health South Lake Hospital. Throughout the day, teens were able to visit the laboratory, revenue management office, and several other facilities of the hospital. Students were able to freely discuss their individual goals and passions with healthcare staff present at the hospital, and it was an extremely rewarding experience for all attendees.
Moreover, Thrive also hosted a booth at the annual Pig On The Pond Festival at Waterfront Park. Thrive Advisory Council members offered temporary tattoos to attendees, hosted games , and provided resources and information on Thrive Programs, including our upcoming Summer Pop-Ups!
Finally, members of the Thrive Board of Directors, Lindsay Parks Neel, Brian Zollweg, along with teen advisory council members, Zoe Bantin, Meera Patel, attended the Non Profit Showcase, “My Neighborhood: Giving and Volunteering” Event, hosted by Sandra Stewart of Bella Collina and the Give A Day Foundation at Bella Collina Club. At the event, Thrive was able to connect with other community organizations on shared topics and perspectives, and was a great event to end the month of March!
